The New Yorker: The Writer's Voice - New Fiction from The New Yorker

Tessa Hadley reads her story “<a href="https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2026/02/02/the-quiet-house-fiction-tessa-hadley">The Quiet House</a>,” from the February 2, 2026, issue of the magazine. Hadley has published thirteen books of fiction, including the story collections “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Dreams-Other-Stories-Tessa-Hadley/dp/006247667X/">Bad Dreams</a>” and “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/After-Funeral-Other-Stories-Hadley/dp/0593469844/">After the Funeral</a>,” and the novella “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/party-Tessa-Hadley/dp/1529949319/">The Party</a>.” She won a Windham-Campbell Prize for fiction in 2016.
