The New Yorker: The Writer's Voice - New Fiction from The New Yorker

Allegra Goodman reads her story “<a href="https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2026/01/12/deal-breaker-fiction-allegra-goodman">Deal-Breaker</a>,” from the January 12, 2026, issue of the magazine. Goodman is the author of ten books of fiction, including the novels “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Kaaterskill-Falls-Allegra-Goodman/dp/0385323905">Kaaterskill Falls</a>,” which was a National Book Award finalist, “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Sam-Novel-Allegra-Goodman/dp/0593447832">Sam</a>,” and “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Isola-Reeses-Book-Club-Novel/dp/0593730100">Isola</a>,” published last year. Her new collection of linked stories, “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/This-Not-About-Us-Fiction/dp/0593447840">This Is Not About Us</a>,” will come out in February.
