She shared some information about herself on YouTube, but she never revealed her exact identity. Most people refer to her by the name of her YouTube channel, WhisperingLife – and credit her with starting the first whisper channel on YouTube. Today’s podcast will focus on WhisperingLife and address the following questions: ---How old was she and where was she from? ---What inspired her to start posting whisper videos? ---Did she intend to relax listeners with her whispering or was that just an unexpected outcome? ---What did she whisper about? ---Was she just a ‘whisper artist’ or was she an ‘ASMR artist’? ---Did she ever show her face in her videos? ---What did she use for a camera? ---How many videos did she post? ---Why did she stop posting videos? The podcast will also include comments she received in the first year she started her channel in 2009, and include comments posted on her last video she uploaded in 2014. It will be a diverse collection of ASMR experiences submitted by visitors to my website and by listeners to my podcast. The project is a way for individuals to share their ASMR experiences with the world, and it is a way for the world to explore the ASMR experiences of others. I believe that having an organized repository of the ASMR experiences and testimonials from many individuals will be helpful to those whom are: ---learning about ASMR for the first time ---curious to know how others experience ASMR ---writing articles or papers about ASMR ---creating research projects about ASMR I’m launching the project with 12 initial questions.  Individuals who experience ASMR can submit their specific answers to any or all of the questions. Here are the 12 initial questions: ---What does ASMR feel like to you? ---At what ages have you experienced ASMR? ---What triggers ASMR for you in the real world? ---What triggers ASMR for you while watching a video? ---Can you trigger ASMR on command? ---Is ASMR a sexual feeling for you? ---Has your ability to experience ASMR ever gone away? ---Does ASMR help you to fall asleep? ---Does ASMR help you with stress? ---Does ASMR help you with a down mood? ---Does ASMR help you to focus on a task? ---How else is ASMR helpful or useful to you? I may also quote some of the answers to these questions in future blog articles and future podcast episodes. History of ASMR: the early ASMR-type videos (podcast episode #3)

[![image] ()ASMR Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response University " data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://asmruniversity.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/asmr-lightblue.png?w=296" data-large-file="https://asmruniversity.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/asmr-lightblue.png?w=296" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-269" src="https://asmruniversity.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/asmr-lightblue.png?w=150&h=125" alt="ASMR Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response University" width="150" height="125" srcset="https://asmruniversity.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/asmr-lightblue.png?w=150&h=125 150w, https://asmruniversity.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/asmr-lightblue.png 296w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" />] (https://asmruniversity.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/asmr-lightblue.png) Many people initially discover their ability to have ASMR through real world experiences. These experiences may include having their hair being played with by a friend, hearing someone whisper, being examined by a clinician, listening to someone nearby turn the pages of a magazine, or watching someone perform a dedicated task like painting or origami. Surprisingly, it has turned out that just hearing and/or watching these experiences in a recorded format can also stimulate ASMR. In 2009, several individuals on the internet began intentionally simulating some of these popular ASMR triggers in videos – giving rise to intentional ASMR videos and ASMR video channels. But these were not the first videos that people were watching to purposely trigger their deep relaxation and tingles. Prior to 2009, many videos which stimulated an ASMR-type sensation were mostly discovered by accident. In this podcast episode, I will highlight some of these early ASMR-type videos which would serve as the inspiration for many ASMR artists and their videos in the future. I will also be reading quotes from individuals who stumbled across these strangely soothing videos prior to 2009 and were amazed at how the videos were so relaxing and helpful to falling asleep. In particular you will hear about videos of Bob Ross, Tony Hart, Nisiyouri, Acharya Shree Yogeesh, unboxings, makeup tutorials, massage instructionals with Lita, and individuals whispering. History of ASMR: Birth of the ASMR Community (podcast episode #2)

On this day, an individual by the username of “okaywhatever” started a forum thread at the website [http://www.steadyhealth.com] (http://www.steadyhealth.com) . The title of the thread was, “Weird sensation feels good” and attracted over 300 replies.  The content of these initial replies quickly created a clear and consistent description of ASMR which still accurately describes ASMR today. Some of the participants in the thread, such as Jennifer Allen and Andrew MacMuiris, spawned out and developed resources which were monumental to the growth and understanding of ASMR. Overall, this forum thread lead directly to the following ASMR milestones: ---the first global cataloging of ASMR sensations and triggers ---the first ASMR discussion sites ---the first ASMR blog ---the first ASMR research website ---the possible first sharing of YouTube links for stimulating ASMR ---the coining of several terms for the sensation before it was called ASMR ---and the coining of the term ‘ASMR’ In the podcast file below, you will hear the curious details about the above milestones. I will also read the first 10 replies to okaywhatever’s post in 2007, and you will be amazed at how much of the understanding of ASMR today was already present in those first replies. And I will read to you the top 10 posts which I culled out of 300+ total posts because of their contribution to the birth of the ASMR community and/or to the understanding of ASMR. Or perhaps to be more accurate, how far back do the special triggers and relaxing sensations that we refer to today as ASMR go? 5 years?  50 years?  500 years? 500,000 years? More? In this episode of the ASMR University Podcast, I’ll propose that these triggers and sensations could go back 500 million years or more. This extreme history of ASMR will include Jennifer Allen, Big Brother, Bob Ross, Fred Rogers, hairdressers in the Age of Enlightenment, barbers in the Holy Roman Empire, clinicians in ancient Egypt, primitive grooming, and hairy reptiles.
