EU to delay retaliatory tariffs on US whiskey, other exports

The EU had been planning to levy two tranches of tariffs starting April 1 on a range of U.S. goods that includes agricultural products and clothing items but announced Thursday that the countermeasures will be taking effect beginning in mid-April.

Obviously there is no smoking gun that proves this definitively, it’s just an observation based on what I am seeing from the files, and a scenario I think is worthy of consideration.

Buma was eventually prohibited from investigating anyone connected to President Trump.

Trump Fires Democrat FTC Commissioners

President Trump has fired the two Democrats sitting on the Federal Trade Commission.
Rebecca Slaughter – a former legal advisor to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Alvaro Bedoya – a former Georgetown official, were informed by the White House that the president was terminating their positions at the FTC, which enforces consumer protection and antitrust laws. The Commission typically has five members, with the president’s party holding three seats and the opposing party two.
Slaughter and Bedoya say they plan to challenge their dismissals in court.
“Today the president illegally fired me from my position as a federal trade commissioner, violating the plain language of a statute and clear Supreme Court precedent,” said Slaughter, who Trump nominated to the FTC during his first term in 2018. “Why? Because I have a voice. And he is afraid of what I’ll tell the American people.”

FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, a Republican first appointed by President Biden and recently made chairman by Trump, said he sees no issues with the firings.
“President Donald J. Trump is the head of the executive branch and is vested with all of the executive power in our government,” Ferguson wrote. “I have no doubts about his constitutional authority to remove commissioners, which is necessary to ensure democratic accountability for our government.”

In this case, both Bedoya and Slaughter have declared their dismissals illegal, citing the statute and precedent, and they intend to sue to reverse the action. No public evidence has surfaced as of March 20, 2025, indicating that Trump specified a cause like inefficiency or malfeasance, which could weaken his position if challenged judicially.

Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a rule Wednesday reversing the ATF’s decades-long ban against the restoration of gun rights.

Gun Owners of America (GOA) praised Bondi’s order, noting, “Because of an amendment by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D) in 1992, ATF has been prohibited from restoring gun rights for the last 32 years!”
Schumer’s amendment, dated October 6, 1992, prohibits the ATF from using funds “to investigate or act upon applications for relief from Federal firearm disabilities under 18 U.S.C. 925(c). ”

He added, “GOA and thousands of would-be gun owners are grateful to President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi for once again allowing gun owners to petition to have their gun rights restored by the Department of Justice. Vice Chief of Space Operations Gen. Michael Guetlein, speaking at the annual McAleese Defense Programs Conference in Washington, D.C., warned of China’s burgeoning space capabilities. According to Guetlein, China had at least five different objects in space seen to be “practicing tactics, techniques, and procedures to do on-orbit space operations,” Defense One reported Tuesday.
Guetlein also added that the comparative capability of the US in space with its adversaries has “narrowed” considerably.
“With our commercial assets, we have observed five different objects in space maneuvering in and out and around each other in synchronicity and in control,” Guetlein said during the McAleese Defense Programs Conference in Washington. “That’s what we call dogfighting in space.
