<p>Mark Asquith is a well-known and hugely respected name in the podcasting space, both as a podcaster and a provider of podcast solutions.</p><p>As the co-founder of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.captivate.fm/signup?ref=dannybrown2" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Captivate</a>, the world’s only growth-oriented podcast host, Mark and his team are building tools to help the serious indie podcaster succeed. He’s also a keynote speaker and a regular presenter at podcast industry events.</p><p>It’s safe to say he has some great insights around the podcast space, some of which we talk about today.</p><h2>On Building Podcast Solutions from Self Frustration</h2><p>When Mark first got into podcasting, it was as he was coming out of an agency he co-owned. Working with various clients showed there was a need for solutions in podcasting, whether that was for content, websites, or hosting. It's from this realization that the idea of Captivate was born.</p><h2>The Different Definitions of Success</h2><p>Captivate&nbsp;was launched as a podcast host that was "the world's only growth-oriented podcast host", and I asked Mark if he was always confident that it would live up to this mantra. He shared how success is defined by the financial side and the platform side, and that's a key differentiator between&nbsp;other hosts.</p><h2>Why Growth Shouldn't Stop with Recognition</h2><p>At the end of 2021/start of 2022, Captivate was acquired by Global, a huge UK media company that owns multiple&nbsp;other assets in the media space, including radio, advertising, and more. Mark explains why that didn't impact&nbsp;the Captivate vision, and why it's still pretty much business as usual.</p><h2>Why Podcasting Isn't What It Used to Be</h2><p>In an early episode of one of my other podcasts, Podcaster Stories, Mark spoke of the moves Spotify were making at the time, and whether that was good or bad for the industry. As he predicted, they were looking to change things up completely, including how we looked at the RSS feed as the delivery system. As Mark shares here, it doesn't matter anymore, since podcasting is a completely different beast from where it was a just a few years ago.</p><h2>How YouTube Will Approach Podcasting</h2><p>With YouTube's announcement&nbsp;that they're entering the podcast space, there have been many podcasters sharing opinions on what they see as the "in" for the video giant. As Mark says, though, it doesn't really matter what we think, as YouTube will do podcasting "the YouTube way".</p><h2>How Podcasters Can Truly Benefit from Dynamic Content</h2><p>One of the growth areas in the last 12-18 has been the options available to podcasters when it comes to dynamic content.
