We are losing sight of the simplicity of the gospel message, and we’ve got to get back to the basics. In this episode, Jackie and Preston discuss why it is that we don’t focus enough on Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross. Our sin is a big reason. We forget about God’s wrath and why we need to be saved in the first place. We get caught up in a works-based idea of sanctification. The truth of the gospel becomes uninteresting as we seek greater understanding or deeper knowledge. We can also go through the spiritual disciplines – like time in the Word or prayer – without truly abiding in Christ.
