In this Coffee Break episode, Jaime and Alana tackle a complex theological question that has puzzled believers for generations: Should we pray for world peace, or should we pray to hasten Christ’s return? When end-times prophecies point toward tribulation, war, and global turmoil, it can be easy to grow passive in our prayers—or worse, assume that global suffering is necessary to speed up Jesus’ second coming. The co-hosts explore how popular culture and competing eschatological views can shape our prayer lives, and why trying to orchestrate the fulfillment of prophecy can lead our hearts and motivations astray. Through honest reflection, biblical wisdom, and a memorable story about Alaskan fireweed, Jaime and Alana discuss the tension between longing for heaven and loving a hurting world right now. Alana shares how the Lord’s Prayer guides us to ask for God's mercy and peace in the midst of suffering rather than wishing for hardship, while Jaime reflects on viewing the timing of Christ’s return through the lens of God’s grace—and why we should never place our ultimate hope in secular or political systems to manufacture a human-led utopia. Together, they encourage us to fix our eyes on Jesus and remain faithful to the work He has given us today, rather than getting lost in the weeds of end-times timelines. Whether you’re fascinated by the book of Revelation, feeling overwhelmed by global conflict, or simply wondering how to pray for a broken world, we hope this episode brings you clarity, peace, and a renewed heart to be salt and light until He comes again.
