Pro-life leaders had mixed reactions after former President Donald Trump failed to announce his support for a federal abortion ban on Monday.
Trump argued in a statement posted on Truth Social Sunday that while he supported the fight for life, he noted that winning elections and the “salvation of our Nation” was also important to the future of the country. Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, responded to the president’s statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying that “there’s no ‘salvation of our Nation’ while we are permitting killing children.”
Kristin Hawkins, president of Students for Life America, however, wrote on X that while the former president needed to be educated on a federal response to abortion there is room to “work with” Trump on the issue.

The recent airstrike error on a food aid vehicle in Gaza highlighted a certain narrative going around claiming that Israel’s plan is to create a famine, starving the Gaza residents into submission, so the food aid is the only thing out there saving their lives.

But that’s not what’s going on at all, according to a study by two Columbia University scholars, one a professor and the other a logistics expert, in a piece featured on today’s RealClearPolitics in a piece that focused on actual data:

Israel’s Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) indicates that bakeries can still provide “over 2 million breads, rolls, and pita breads a day.”

According to this United Nations chart, at least half the farms in Gaza are still going, their farm exports are still reaching their foreign customers, three quarters of the greenhouses are still producing, the bakeries are still baking, yet somehow, everyone in Gaza is starving to death.
That is one funny way of running a man-made famine.
The Columbia scholars didn’t deny that there was hardship in some areas, but they did point out what was happening in areas where people really didn’t have enough to eat and needed to rely on food aid:

According to Columbia’s Awi Federgruen and Ran Kivetz:

Hamas, which has been hoarding food and stealing from Gazans, is the root cause of Gazans’ suffering. As Congressman Jim Himes, a Connecticut Democrat and ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, stated in a CNN interview: “Hamas has a long history of stealing aid, and needs to stop that in the interest of the people that they purport to represent.”

How do you starve when you’re still exporting food?

There’s also this aid as well on top of what the Gazans already have:

COGAT data show that 290,000 tons of food and beverages have been delivered to Gaza since October — recently as many as 200 truckloads a day. Full distribution of these supplies would deliver about 1.82 pounds of food daily for each of the 2 million people in Gaza (145 kg per person, during 175 days of war). Based on FAO estimates of the average daily consumption in Asia and Africa (where Gaza is situated), this alone would be enough to supply 50% of Gazans’ daily consumption needs – on top of the food they continue to produce themselves.

That’s a lot of free food — and hungry Gazans don’t get enough of it, because Hamas takes first dibs, ripping the aid from the hands and mouths of the people they impoverished like a parasite on a host.

Black Student Athletes Not Responding to NAACP’s Call to Boycott Florida

In March, the NAACP’s president and CEO, Derrick Johnson, sent a letter to NCAA president Charlie Baker on Monday asking Black student-athletes to reconsider attending public colleges and universities in Florida.
Johnson’s letter was in response to dismantling Marxist Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs throughout the state.
In January, The Florida Board of Governors passed a regulation limiting public funding for DEI programs, defining them as “any program, campus activity, or policy that classifies individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, gender identity, or sexual orientation and promotes differential or preferential treatment of individuals on the basis of such classification.”
In his letter, Johnson wrote, “To all current and prospective college student-athletes – the NAACP urges you to reconsider any potential decision to attend, and compete at a predominantly white institution in the state of Florida.”

It seems, however, that student-athletes are not listening to the NAACP’s demands.

College Fix did an analysis that identified at least 35 of the top-ranked black student-athletes in basketball and football who recently signed with universities in Florida.
The Fix shared this list with the NAACP and asked for comment. The group has not responded to two emailed inquiries sent in the past three weeks. The Fix sent another email on April 4 to Press Secretary Alicia Mercedes and Public Relations Manager Chyna Fields, asking if anyone has decommitted. Neither responded to the email.A news search about “decommits” did not yield any proof of black athletes leaving Florida universities due to the NAACP boycott demand.

Last year the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 against Joe Biden’s student loan relief program so the Department of Education rolled out a workaround forbearance program to cancel $39 billion in student loans by counting non-payments as payments for a period of time.
