We now know the mind often prioritizes visual information when it is more salient or relevant to the context. Auditory information can dominate if it is unexpected or emotionally charged. The brain integrates both senses, but visual cues typically have a stronger influence on perception. In ambiguous situations, the mind may rely on visual input to resolve discrepancies between sight and sound.
